NEW ORLEANS, March 18, 2016 – Courtney Williams, CEO and Founder of Torsh, an educational software company that provides a video observation platform used for teacher development, will be competing in the Coulter IDEAPitch on Friday, March 18, 2016. The Coulter IDEAPitch is the premier entrepreneur showcase event at New Orleans Entrepreneur Week (NOEW), a free and open to the public week long “Mardi Gras of entrepreneurship.” Named after Jim Coulter, the billionaire who started the event, the Coulter IDEAPitch looks to award entrepreneurs with startups that are capital ready and primed to excel.

Courtney Williams, CEO of Torsh, is one of three entrepreneurs featured in the Coulter IDEAPitch and the only one with a social impact startup. As an immigrant from Jamaica, Courtney has always been intimately familiar with how a good education can change the trajectory of an individual’s life. Courtney founded Torsh after more than 15 years of experience in the technology industry where he held senior executive roles at companies like AOL,Time Warner and Interactive One.  “When I look at my life, my life is a pure function of having received a great education. Jamaica is a third world country, and we weren’t particularly wealthy. So, for the life that I’ve lived, if I didn’t come here and get the education I did, I don’t know that I would have this life. On some level, I’ve always felt that I wanted to do that for others, to give back to my community” stated Courtney Williams.

Courtney’s presentation on Torsh will take a deep dive into the solution and opportunities that Torsh brings to the field of education. Teachers truly matter in the education and future of our children, and Torsh works to support teacher effectiveness and growth at its core. The presentation will give the audience a closer look at Torsh TALENT, Torsh’s signature product that is currently used across more than 1600 schools in 18 states. Torsh TALENT is a video-based observation, feedback and data management platform that gives educators an opportunity to reflect on practice, collaborate with others, measure the effectiveness of instruction, and receive high quality coaching at scale.

The Coulter IdeaPitch is being held Friday, March 18th at Manning’s in New Orleans, Louisiana. More information is available here.
